![]() I know a lot of people on this board are going through some really tough times so I'm sorry if i sound whiny. I had mediastinal-only HD so I have no idea what an enlarged node should feel like. Did your affected nodes start out like peas and then swell up? Could you move it around a lot? or was it just like one day wow there's a grape-sized lump above my clavicle? Will poking at lymph nodes make them bigger?Ĭould these be "shotty" nodes? I have two on my neck that are bean-sized and have been there for as long as I can remember (I had them when I was a baby, my mom was concerned about them). Like most of you I am constantly feeling my neck. Lymph nodes are found throughout the body, including a large number in the neck, and they are instrumental in helping to fight off. These are small, pea-sized bundles of white blood cells that form a very important part of the immune system. The thing that is making me paranoid is that I think it's new. The most usual cause of a lump in the neck is swollen lymph glands or, more accurately lymph nodes. When you have an active infection in your body - like a cold, flu, or dental infection - your lymph nodes often get bigger as they work to clear your system of. They feel like a grain of rice and a frozen pea. 0 Comments Swollen lymph nodes can also develop because of immune system disorders, like rheumatoid arthritis and, less often, cancer. Swelling of the lymph nodes on your neck indicates that infection might be in your throat and your pain there is telling me that you might be having a cold or some other problem with tonsils perhaps. Your body is simply doing what its supposed to do. Hi there, Lymph nodes tend to get enlarged when you have some sort of infection in your body. Right now there is nothing to feel anxious about. Impetigo of the scalp is one common bacterial infection that can cause this. Study the immune system and youll see the other things that cause temporary enlargement of lymph nodes. Local bacterial infections, such as in the throat or nearby skin, may cause your occipital lymph nodes to swell. Nodes are part of your immune system which does much more than clean up bacterial infections. Congenital cysts It is common for young children to have small neck cystsbenign (non-cancerous) pockets of tissue that formed before birth and can grow larger over time. The lymph node is doing its job, fighting off an invading bacterium or virus. A pea-sized lymph node in the neck is considered normal size. One is rice-sized and the other is pea-sized. That is a very common situation and is usually in response to an infection. I can feel two highly mobile nodes in my left clavicular fossa (the area above my clavicle) more towards the end of my shoulder. Ok so I know I'm probably just being paranoid but I am worried anyways.
